10 ways to deal with intimidation
10 ways to deal with intimidation
Let’s
commence with scrutinizing the word intimidation
To a lay
man, intimidation is simply bullying (the act of daunting a weaker person to
make them do something), according to advanced English Dictionary, it’s the
feeling of discouragement in the face of someone's superior fame or wealth or
status etc., or simply being made to feel afraid or timid. In other words, it’s
a communication that makes you afraid to try something.
Whatever the
definition is, the question still holds, have you been intimidated before? If
yes, how did you handle the feeling? Brethren, don’t crack your nut for
nothing, here are ten cool ways to deal with intimidation.
- Use that intimidation as a motivation.Take every challenge as test to another level, you cannot graduate from one class to another without being tested. In times of intimidation, develop that psychological feature within you that arouses you to action toward a desired goal; the reason for the action; that which gives purpose and direction to behavior, provide incentive for your own self
- Self-esteem (self-pride)Have confidence in yourself, have self-respect, a feeling of pride in yourself. Trust me not, if you do, all your worries will be gone. You will never master how to control a prevailing situation unless you first have control of yourself. Love yourself before loving what you do.
- Life is compilation of Sorrow and JoyAnother thing you should know, you are not the only one battling intimidation, wherever you go, anywhere, anytime there is someone having a hard time with something. But to challenge the accuracy, Are you ending yourself because of that simple situation almost every one is fighting? Think back, “the bread of life and a cup of juice is to those who persist until the end”. Many have fought it and won, so are you.
- Know yourselfYes, including your strengths and weaknesses, what you can or cannot do. Leave what’s for others for them, only do what you can do best. Everyone has got his/her own calling and talent. You cannot do everything alone that’s why you are not in this world alone.
- Trust no one but yourselfDevelop that trait of believing in the honest and reliability of yourself, not anyone. Believe that no one else can do it apart from me.
- Get help/adviceSeek a proposal for an appropriate course of action. “No man is an island”, you cannot do everything by yourself, where you tremble/fail, get support from some else well experienced than you. Why battle a headache all by yourself yet there is paracetamol?
- Role modelsFind someone worthy of imitation, look up to some body. Have the feeling of wanting to be like some one else. Imagine you are that person and you want to reach he/she is now, admire someone.
- Mentors.Last but not least, everyone needs guidance from someone wise and trustworthy. Get a teacher of your own, even Doctors need teachers/lecturers before becoming doctors, teachers need teachers also before becoming teachers.
- PrayerThis applies to those who believe. On the other hand, atheists, or non-believers, can also try it, it helps. Prayer changes a lot of things. Ask me about it, I will tell you about it.
- Don’t give upLastly, you will never be who you want to be unless you get tested, experience is the best teacher and learn from your mistakes.Remember those who succeed are not those who never fail, but those who never give up; those who consider failure as not failure but as an opportunity to try something new.
great one
